Synopsis

How did the entire population of a small town in a Welsh Valley come to vanish overnight, leaving their possessions behind them? The affair became known as the Pestrypoint Mystery, and seventeen years were to pass before the answer came, in a manner that was as dramatic as the departure had been. Only then could the story be told of how the involuntary space travellers reacted to their captivity on a distant planet where the ruling race venerated their own great explorer and cherished relics of the great days of the British Empire. It was a story of dramatic adventure in space, lightened throughout by the irrepressible humour of ordinary people in extraordinary situations.
