Synopsis

Humans have been on Mars since Karen Davenport first set foot on the red planet over a century ago. Mars did not deliver on the promises of the 21st century however. Resources proved too far from Earth for economic extraction and the climate made large scale colonies impractical. Near the end of his career Pastor David Kuhn and his wife Elizabeth travel to Davenport, the international colony on Mars, as missionaries to bring relief to a spiritually hurting people. They both find the job different from their church in Virginia as well as the mission trips of their youth. They will have to overcome themselves to live up to God's plan for them.Meanwhile, the now failing Chinese empire has one last hope to stabilize its economy and launch a new chapter in human history. That hope is on the forgotten red planet and will engulf the lives of the citizens of Davenport as well as the newly arrived Kuhns. Explore a future in which failed space colonization is part of history and dreams of an interstellar human race lay in the economic fortunes of empires and science isn't enough to drive us to the stars.
