The Outlander: Captivity

Synopsis

From Library Journal A defector from a militaristic, patriarchal city falls into the hands of the matriarchal warrior women who live within the protection of the bramble maze and throws their well-ordered society into chaos by challenging their traditions. In the pattern of LeGuin and other writers who have explored gender-based societies, Salterberg creates a microcosm of the war between the sexes and laces it with a strong dose of nonstandard feminism. The resulting novel (part of a projected series) is thoughtfully and gracefully written. Recommended for sf collections. Copyright 1989 Reed Business Information, Inc.
