The Collected Ghost Stories of E. F. Benson

Synopsis

Although British author E.F. Benson wrote over a hundred books during his lifetime, including the extremely successful Mapp and Lucia novels, it was his ghost stories for which he was best known in his day. These stories represent probably his best writing and for the first time, are reprinted in one volume bringing together material that has not been available for over 40 years. Benson's stories are extremely varied in content ranging from horror to vampires, homicidal ghosts, monstrous spectral slugs and worms to the satire of humourous tales which make fun of fake seances and charlatan mediums. It is the author's ability to create a thoroughly eerie atmosphere and his graceful literary style, however, that reveal these works to be of a true master of the genre.
